The S&Ws are like the Ford Focus of the minirifle world; they do everything you need, are reliable, easy to maintain but you just don't lust after them :)

Too plasticky for me but you can't argue with how they have the affordable end of the market sewn up.

I've got an airsoft rifle that looks and feels like a Lantac Raven, but I know what you mean, the smith is made of polymer.

I haven't shot one, but I picked one up at the shooting show last year and I didn't like it. I'm sure it worked very well, but it was a lot lighter than I thought it would be and it didn't have a nice finish to it and lacked definition. Sorry it's not for me.

The 15-22 is hard to beat for practicality. The ideal competition gun wouldn't weigh anything so being light is a pro, not a con. Of course if you want something that feels more like the real thing but doesn't work as well (Meeow green55 ) then alternatives have been mentioned. Don't forget to buy the 15-22 magazine adaptor for them too though lol

If I wanted a CMMG, I'd speak to Paul at Lantac. He'll build one and fettle it until it works very nicely...

DW58 sorry to disappoint

I will certainly be getting hands on to various black rifles before I buy anything
All rifles have their pluses & minuses, and good & bad reviews
no doubt there will be compromises to be made but time will tell, and its only to be a fun gun !!!!

Well Duey, you can almost guarantee a big smile when using it.

Forgot to say my only point on all of them is if you are going to shoot from a bench I would recommend 10rd mags rather than the longer 25/26 round ones.

He's very reliable, he's just a very busy man. I bet if you send him an e-mail saying you're ready to buy a firearm, what are your bank account details and how much do I owe you for configuration X, Y, Z, I bet he responds fairly quickly.
