I have actually got a fox 10-40 scope still in its box sitting on a shelf so I guess I just need something to put it on.

Although not as accurate as some people or some rifles, I picked up a CZ 452 from a club member and first time using it I was just a midge's nadgers over 1 inch for several 5 round groups and one group under an inch at 100 yards. Not bad for a £150 rifle with an 89 quid hawke scope on top.

yep, +1 for a CZ452.. i bought a £200 ish one a few years ago, heavy 16 inch barrel with a cheap Doctor scope on it, will shoot 1/2 inch groups at 50m with no problem, and has won me several club comps.. its my "go to" gun for accuracy.

That's for sure. I've used one for years on an Anschutz 1813, and it's a great scope for the money.

You're halfway towards having a really accurate setup.

The trouble is with a CZ, despite the fact they are great shooters, strong as a vault, readily available spares etc, etc..... they're just so, meh!

It's an "a...hole"..... everyone's got one!

If you're purely a shooter, for pest control, the pot, or just punching paper for the skill aspect, then fine. But, if you're a firearm enthusiast, then the world really is your oyster!

Personally, I blame Edgar Brothers. They've shoved Remington and CZ so hard on to dealers shelves with the market tied up for decades, we've lost out on so many other great rifles that only exist in the UK now as expensive "unobtainuium". Surely gun ownership is as much as the joy of ownership, not just how cheaply or averagely they perform....?

No, I don't hold with that. Life's too short for ugly guns. Or "average" guns for that matter....

To night I took my mauser .22 training rifle one of the last ones made before mas took over the tooling and started churning out the copies. I have never fired it before its a iron sights jobby it caused a great deal of interest. But Im guessing I probably will never shoot it again. Its more a piece of history rather than a shooter.

Agreed... but that, of course, is highly subjective!

My .577 Enfield may not appeal to a black rifle enthusiast, and vice versa.

And some people find beauty in utilitarianism... each to their own, eh..?

I just wish we had more choice, there's less in the UK than most countries.
