I remember seeing them taking off and landing on the deck of HMS Victorious in 1963/64. Folding their wings and being lowered on the deck lift down to the hanger deck

Definately Airfix. I never made Frog but I made a Gannet.dromia wrote:I don't think Airfix did a model of one but I do believe Frog did at that time.

None of my mould listings show that airfix ever made a Gannet.
If they indeed did then I would be interested in knowing more as I suspect it would be as collectable as the old grey Fergy kit.

Frog did a Gannet kit don't remember a Airfix kit, though I did have a balsa wood flying one but cant remember the kit maker,
I still have the last Airfix kit I ever bought still unmade but it's not a Gannet.

Keil Kraft did a rubber powered balsa kit in their flying scale series, built and flew most of their models in the day.
These models were also popular for RTP flying when equipped with electric motors.

Not a Gannet but I well remember making/flying several of the KK scale models. My favourite was a 33" Tiger Moth, fitted with a .75 diesel and a Mcgregor single chanel RC (rubber band escapement).dromia wrote:Keil Kraft did a rubber powered balsa kit in their flying scale series, built and flew most of their models in the day.

Best flyer was the Piper cub.
I still have the RC and engine somewhere.
