About right for such events, add the clays, shells and insurance up plus some running costs. Have you seen the price for laser clay shooting recently? Similar prices and no consumables either. The .22 shooting gallery at Newark was similar priced as well.

Costings...£1.20 inc VAT for ten 12G cartridges and pennies for the clays.

And as for 10 22lr cartridges...pennies.

And this after paying how much entry fee?

Where else do you have to pay to enter a shop?

It would be interesting to see the final break down of costs.

Personally if Bisley Live makes some money for H4H and puts back into the bank and for future investment then it I think it is worth it. All of the country fair type events are the same, high entry fees, expensive food and coffee and costly organised events. At the other end of the spectrum I paid under 35 quid to shoot two 'International' F class comps at the Phoenix, cheap shooting

Perhaps I'm alone on this one but I would like to see any profit put back into the NRA.

It seems the NRA can't win with people moaning about the facilities yet, when they try and make some money (Bisley Live) they then get castigated for making a profit!

H4H has done brilliantly in recent years but why should an organisation that is struggling to balance its own books be expected to make a donation to a charity which is looking very healthy at this moment.

And before the knives are out I am ex services and Bry Parry who started H4H is somebody I know and yes I have supported it on a number of occaisions both finacially and with my own time!

The NRA are getting a 'hire fee' for the use of the site. I'm not sure how much it is but, hopefully, a decent amount. Personally I feel that is the better option in the first year. In the future, if it works, a percentage might be better!

From a business standpoint, if one's objective is to maximise attendance and promote more interest in shooting generally then it is unwise to have high entry fees, high refreshment prices and high trial and evaluation charges...especially when the economy is as flat as a pancake. Newbies may think that is what it costs to shoot guns...wrong message. There are other shows and people will remember which shows present VFM and a good day out.

Donations to charity are fine...but a wee bit of openness would go a long way...eg X% of income to H4H.

I hope it all works out and that those that turn up will not bring their own refreshments, and will pay silly amounts for 10 bangs with a Silver Pigeon they may wish to purchase.

As far as NRA/Bisley is concerned...they could have done themselves a big favour by only charging a very small fee or stating it was fee free in order to reduce show overheads ... so as to encourage families to visit and to encourage our young into shooting.

NRA/Bisley did NOT set the fees - the organisers of Bisley Live (Westech/GSA) set the prices and will keep the profits

Nothing to do with us - honest!

We get a set fee for site hire and our expenses paid for the work we do and thats it!

Please don't think its the NRA out to make a fast buck!

This is refering to what NRA/Bisley charge the show organiser. If that charge is small or zero that means the show's overheads are lower therefore the show's budgeted profits would be the same whilst being able to charge less for entry etc etc.

Nope I am fairly certain that they offered us a set amount not the other way round.

I am also fairly sure that not claiming the fee (which is not that much!) wouldnt make any difference to the prices they want to charge

Right, so the NRA is effectively leasing the facilities out in return for a fee, a bit like the Hardley Owners Group did a few weeks ago? Well if it brings some money in then I am all for it.
