Thanks to the Op and all of you for answering some questions I was pondering.. I'm just on the way to starting with the "black arts", and this has been useful..

One other question... has anyone used the Lee "dippers" for measuring out powder into vials..? I would have thought that once you know the volume required, a dipper would be quicker than a powder flask..?

Yes you certainly could, once you have established the load you require it want. If there is not a dipper in the exact amount you want then you can always file one to match. I did this when first reloading my .38spl.

The dippers will work fine, Lee also do an adjustable plastic dipper for shotgun handloading which can be used form measuring black powder and shot.

There are usually plenty of old brass adjustable dippers around, mostly they seem to be French so in fecking useless grams however they are easily remarked with grains
