I love these threads. It shows what you can do with rifles that many are happy to write off.

It's really sad the see these old BSA's not valued in the way they should be. A local rifle club closed down a few years ago and took their club rifles into a deal - He gave them £50 for 12 rifles, true it was a mixed bag of 12/15's and old Mk2's and a couple of later ones but they all had their sights etc.RDC wrote:I love these threads. I think the rising popularity of rimfire benchrest is seeing the value creep up but still well undervalued.

Are you running a CNC mill for the engraving? It looks very good.
It is not so long ago that the humble International was being broken down, sights to eBlag, barrel to a new rifle, woodwork to the stove and the rest broken for spares. Now they are starting to rise in value however I still see the sights being sold separately at outrageous prices. As an aside, I saw a Midland 177 springer in use in Bell target on Monday with a PH5B on the back and it was superbly accurate.

I wish David - I cheated, I milled out a cartouche and used a trophy engraving outfit to make the engraved plate (cost 99p) then shaped the plate to fit the recess.Ovenpaa wrote:Are you running a CNC mill for the engraving? It looks very good.

Great stuff!
Looks like it would be a high X count if shot on BR targets! Nice shooting.

You cannot go wrong with a BSA Martini. Put the best scope you can on there - won't be wasted.
Mine is a Mk 2 ( from Dromia) cost me only £30 once I sold the iron sights !
Won me gold in NRA mini McQueen first time out.
Kept me in top 5 every time since - up against some fancy and expensive modern rifles !
Also silver in the NRA 200/300 yard matches.
And won me another gold in the Autumn Action Mini-McQueen a couple of weeks ago. As well as gold at 200 yards same day.
Which is why its one of the few rifles coming with me to USA.
