I plumped for the barely shot blued steel fixed sight as it was one of the last made and is immaculate. I've bought a full set of springs and screws from Numrich to future proof its condition - £50 well spent I reckon.
I shoot Midlands Pistol League postal comps so either sight is fine. In the end I had to flip a coin between that and the stainless model I was looking at as I really couldn't decide between the two. Maybe I'll buy a stainless target sighted model in a few months time when I'm in Seattle - retrospectively fix my dilemma. :)

Just taken delivery. My pants mobile phone doesn't do it justice. It's in absolutely pristine condition. Well pleased.

For what it's worth Ruger still has parts, they just don't sell them anymore. I sent them one several years ago with a buggered cylinder and they fit a new cylinder with new nipples, adjusted it and cleaned it up and sent it back all for free.
I can't think of anything that will break on one without some effort on the part of the shooter.

I have a Ruger OA .45 and it is so much better than my Italian .45 and .36 Remingtons. Consistant and accurate with a nice trigger action.

For what it’s worth, I noticed that there are axis pins, and axis pin retaining bars available on Fleabay. Just search for Ruger old army

If they are the home made ones , I wouldnt touch em with a barge pole .

As this post has been resurrected, thought I'd mention, I've found that the grip frame screws are the same as a Ruger Blackhawk, Single Six. Had to order some from Midway as two of mine sheared in two, (possibly due to overtightening by previous owners). The Hogue Monogrip grips for the above also fit.
