My Walther KK300 came with a 650mm barrel (25.6"). The trouble you will have with adjusting the length of a smallbore barrel is that you will change the harmonics of it which could have a larger effect on accuracy that the length itself.
I am far from an expert, but I would suggest going with the barrel which gets you the best muzzle velocity and then use a barrel tuner to tune the harmonics to improve the accuracy.

I have been playing at what l thought was long range out to 200yds with my CZ452 in to an 8” Shoot n c and now feel that l am totally outgunned in this company. What size and type of target are you all using and what sort of groups are you getting? I have tried various ammunition makes and ended up with Eley Action or RWS Target.

With my CZ, shooting with a bipod off the bonnet of the Landy, using cheap as chips bulk .22 ammo I can shoot groups about the size of a matchbox at 500 yards, all day long. (if I do my part) :)

My Landy has a .22" bullet sized hole through the bonnet.

That was just trying to show off - a failed attempt at the old "in off the bonnet" routine.

Just for giggles, took the ballistics for CCI standard and ran them through bullet drop.
40gn LRN, BC 0.120, MV 1070fps, with a 300 yard zero;
At 500yd's, -315.8 inches and an impact velocity of 586fps...!
Add a 5mph right angle breeze, you end up with 50 inches of wind drift!
A matchbox...?

On a more serious note - Some years ago the NRA ran a series of articles about long range .22lr target shooting. I believe the aim was to find a suitable size target to give similar results as fullbore at longer ranges. ie. 200 yd with a .22lr to replicate a 7.62mm at 600 yards. Interesting stuff.
The article will be in the NRA archives somewhere, maybe 5 years ago, but it would need a bit of trawling to find them:

Parts of vehicles are collateral damage in Lincolnshire, I have hear stories that included wing mirrors, A pillars and head rests and I know of someone who zeroed his 6,5x55 against a haystack with his Defender parked behind and has/had duct tape to cover the through and through groups in the back of the truck.
