Re: Interesting .303 underlever
Rule at the club is that one starts at the low end, if you can't hit at the low distance then no point in going further out.
Re: Interesting .303 underlever
I think we have all either heard or said, "Can you spot for me whilst I put one in the sand over xyz" - I have heard it in anything from 300 yard club events to 1000 yard F Class comps.ptheta wrote:Joking aside, I think you're meant to have at least an outside chance of hitting the target. The NRA handbook does say you're meant to stop after so many rounds if you can't hit the target. I think it's three rounds but I can't remember for sure.
In spite of that, who hasn't heard someone say, "I'm just going to stick one in the sand to see where it's going", at some point or another?

Got to admire his spirit for wanting to try it as 800  - I've not even seen one like it, but would love to try it standing at 100
What a lot of people don't realise, is that a bullet that richocets up off the ground, can actually carry further into the danger area than one that is only just over the back-stop.......

1895 Winchester! Loverrrrrrly!
A mate has one in .30-06 and another guy in the club has the Teddy Roosevelt hunting cartridge of .405 Winchester. With 3200ft/lbs recoiling on that skinny, steel crescent butplate, it's not for the feint of heart or the slight of stature!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
