Allan I have looked at the straight 284 but I'm slightly put off by the lack of brass available for it.

How easy is necking up?

A neck mandrel and some Imperial sizing wax is all I use for similar. I build my own mandrels to fit a Sinclair International Die and sit it on a large O ring so it can float slightly.

You make it sound so easy but I'm sure I'd screw it up some how!

It is hard to screw it up, the SincInt mandril die is very easy to use, stick it in the press, drop the mandrel in and screw the top on so that the mandrel can move slightly, now give the inside of the neck a wipe with ISW and raise the ram. Mail me the brass and I will do it for you! I would do it in two stages so a nice easy progression however you can do it in one pass.
