Thanks DM, i'm hoping for the same FEO who i dealt with for the shotgun license but when i last saw him last october he was expecting to be made redundent and said that it appeared that renewal visits would be via a local bobby and new applications would be via an officer from the armed response unit, so it will be a surprise as to who turns up.

Oh s*** that does not bode well - keep us informed on how it works out, the scenario you mention has been discussed here earlier this year but I think you will be the first to experience it.
