Its strange that they are so scarce and so expensive - there would have been over 250,000 originally in store during the service life of the L2A3 Sterling (Sterling bayonets are the same original No5 bayonets). All of those bayonets must have been disposed of as surplus in recent years. Possibly they were sold as scrap, or sold to a big Sterling user such as India or Pakistan.
