For £2800 I'd buy an Accuracy International over a Savage any day of the week

British company - worldwide reputation - excellent customer service & all sorts of gucci kit you can add to the basic package
...they even do rifles for buggers that dont use the correct shoulder to shoot from....what more could you want??

Another vote for the AI - Or if you plan to shoot competitively - for that money you will get a custom built rifle from one of the UK guys!

I must admit £2800 on a starter rifle puts my thinking it slightly presumptuous to spend £450 on a new .22lr into perspective. Must try harder!! tongueout

Oh I'll add I'm a leftie too!

So do you have some suggestions?
All help appreciated.

John, if you always intend to shoot off a bi-pod, you'll have no trouble with a right-handed rifle. I'm right-handed but I built my tactical rifle as left-bolt, left port. Keep your finger on the trigger and do all the feeding/mag changing with your free hand.

Nothing wrong with the Savage but it's a bit expensive at £2800. Have a look at Dolphin's website.

Or do as Darrel Evans does and shoot an AI in Bench Rest, and he does rather nicely as well.

He is on the forum, somewhere....

DARREL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone,
I just don't want to "think" that I need a Porsche and end up with a Lada!

So:

Savage = overpriced for that model. "BA10"
Remington 700 = loads of toys and modifications at a decent price, good base for years of playtime.
AI = what "base" rifle are you referring to? (Remington 700 with AI stock, etc. etc. etc?)

Again all help appreciated
