Well like most things relating to shooting in the UK it wont be cheap. However it will be a nice product. From what i know it will be closer to 1K than 2 depending on how you have it.

With regards to the Rod, its pinned and welded in place to the frame. ( Same question i asked straight up ). regarding the Home office. whats to stop you taking a hacksaw to any LBP and making it shorter?

Genuinely can't wait for it to hit the shores so i can post the pics.

Talking about the rod out the back... how can you make a metal rod "non-removable" from a polymer frame..? Surely a relatively small amount of brute force will make it removable, something the HO won't allow...
you make it so it destroys the frame by trying to remove it.

you can remove the hangers off of any long barrel pistol, the point is, it's hard to put it back without it being clear it was removed at some point... IE, same as shortening the barrel, unless you have a spare barrel, it's pretty hard to put it back to it's original length.

blind, hardened, round ended pins epoxied into the frame should do the trick

We all (should) know that a pistol classified as Sec 5 in the UK can't be imported and then converted here to Sec.1.

But if a standard handgun such as a Glock 19 or S&W 686 is purchased by a gunsmith in Germany or the U.S. or wherever it's legal to do so and that gunsmith then takes it apart and rebuilds it with an aftermarket 12" barrel and welds a bit of metal on the back to make it 24" long, then engraves his own company name along the side of it and sells it as a "Smithco" LBP or LBP, that can be sold and imported into the UK?

It's happened, so where is the grey area or is it still up to individual forces to decide for themselves if that's within the law?
I think you have hit the nail on the Head.

A glock could be purchased through normal channels in the US, smithed to UK LBP regulations and imported as such.

Which is why it doesnt matter if Glock don't sell frames on their own.

As with most things i believe although the guide lines are in place each Force will have their own interpretation of them which is where the system falls down.

I know an RFD who followed verbal guidlines , he is now facing criminal charges .

So Police or Home Office guidlines are not worth the paper they are not written on .

Verbal guidelines from who about what?

"Verbal" that'll hold up in court.

That figure seems hard to believe as Neal was quoting £1100+ two and a half years back , and that was using cheaper non glock parts and with a dammed good exchange rate .

Happening doesn't make it legal......

We cannot expect plod to know where or how every gun added to your ticket is made and enforce the law in that respect, I am sure we have all had errors on our FACs. It is down to the RFDs manufacturing the guns to ensure they comply with the law. To my understanding of the law, what you describe above is not lawful. The gun is classified in the UK as Sec. 5. Regardless of where the work was carried our or how it came into the UK, the parts were at one point part of a Sec. 5 gun. End of the end result is Sec. 5. There was I think a court case where the Anglo SLRs were granted Sec.1 status, but I doubt that will have set a precedent.

Similarly taking Sec. 1 air rifles off ticket, the law from memory says that unless it has a barrel greater than 24" it cannot leave Sec.1.

Some forces will allow it though regardless of this...... Still doesn't make it legal

Ok so if said glock was bought just as a frame and made as I said then that’s ok by you Rarms ?

I don't think Glock sell their frames, so if I was you I would be looking for some form of receipt or manifest from 'Glock USA' for a serial numbered 'Frame' and not a gun....

If it is made with an aftermarket frame be that an 80% one or other and then other components which have never been assembled into a pistol previously then yes IMHO that would be good to go...

So you are confirming that Merkle S&W LBRs are illegal as the law stands (assuming they haven't found a way to buy frames from S&W)?
