Wow I should hope so at £128.95
I have bought books this expensive before, but not many... I'll look out for it at the show, although I don't think I could bring myself to spend that on a book without seeing it first. Thanks for the tip off though.

I went the old-fashioned route and got it from my local library. They ordered it in from somewhere.

It would never have dawned on me to go to the library. How weird's that?!?
There we go problem solved and thanks for the retro tip!

I've booked to go and visit Mik@DGC soon with the prospect of having an AX308 built. However, I've just looked at the AICS site and if I price up what appears to be a similar rifle, it's £4K+, which seems quite a bit more than DGC, around £1.5K more. I have to say AICS's rifle configurator is quite nice, although I can't see why there's such a wide price variance between the 2 rifles. Does anyone know?

The DGC builds a bespoke custom rifle - in actual fact the two prices should be swopped around!!!
DGC delivers serious performance for seriously good price and the pricing differences in this case doesn't denote the quality and attention to detail.
Mik is buying the best - putting them together brilliantly and only asks a fair price.
You get a complete system from a specialist master gunsmith!
As for why the cost differential - I cant speak for either (I am only a DGC client) but I reckon one company doesn't have marketing teams , corporate headquarters and DOD brass to wine and dine (an pay for).
A smaller chain and less people needing to be funded!

Hi Tim,
Yes I should have rephrased it. I was asking how Mik can offer such amazing value, I wasn't insinuating he offered a lesser product. It naturally follows the larger company has larger outgoings, but I was just surprised by how much!
As it stands today, I think a DGC AX308 might be rifle no. 2... :shakeshout:
Cheers,
Craig.

I visited Chris at
C&G Firearms yesterday. I spent 3.5 hours chatting to Chris at his office, he's an interesting bloke and clearly knows his stuff. Caveat Emptor - You might leave there wanting more than you did when you arrived...
I bought this yesterday, it's a beauty SMLE.
All original unissued parts that have been degreased, plated (blued) and put together on original furniture and they're simply stunning. I have a lot of respect for Chris's work, these are effectively new SMLE's. I suspect I'll put in a variation for a Faz No 4 in the not too distant future...
Sorry for the low quality pics.

I spent an hour or two with Mik from
Dolphin Gun Company today. Lots to think about, but a DG looks like it will be rifle number 3...

FWIW I have one of the aformentioned unissued No4 Mk 2`s.
1955 dated and proof fired only. In fact myself and a few friends all bought one each from Peter Sarony a few years back now.
Turned out to be quite a good investment!
I was shooting at 900 yards today at Bisley and had the No4 and my schmidt rubin K11 carbine made in 1919.
No4 was shooting 174gn sierra matckings and Viht N140. Sidney schmidt was shooting 167gn lapua scenars and N150.
The K11 will out shoot the No 4 all day long. Struggled to keep shots on target with No4 but the K11 managed 6 shots in a row into about 20 inches.
The last club outing at 500 yards at Bisley one mate was shooting his K11 with GP11 ammo and most shots were in the 5 ring!
Plenty of K31`s around too at sensible money and they are supremely well made.
Sorry if this is abit askew from topic!
Tony

There's something really nice about the Enfields though, lots of British heritage in them. I don't mind they're not the most accurate rifle in the world, I can live with that. I have to say I am also interested in a Nosin Magant and a Mauser K98 now I've seen them in the flesh. I had a look through a wartime scope for each the other day and I I was quite impressed with the quality of the glass on both. I was under the impression that wartime scopes were pretty poor, but it makes me want an Enfield No 4 T even more now...
900 yards with an Enfield for company sounds like a good day out...
