Just wondered if you knew anything about updating themes and templates for WP before I jumped in with both feet and started clicking on things :lol:

I have a bucket full of 6.6/55 to reload for Saturday's trip to Warcop and probably some .223 too - but apart from that, I have some down time!!!!

With a postal comp looking likely, I have some questions!

1) Teams - how many to a team or unlimited and just the best x number of results put forward?
2) CoF - how much ammunition and is there a time limit?
3) I know there will be now sighters but are shots to be marked or not?
4) Format of the competition - Single round or multiple rounds? Time limit to shoot the round - calendar month?

SRPC shoots once a month at Cawdor - I would initially suggest a single round to test the format and maybe a second (or third?) to test any revisions. It does depend on our shooting calendar for 2013.

Another alternative is to have an individual competition - verified pictures of targets could be posted on the S-Class website. In my case, for the amusement of others!

Oh and targets - I'll need to check the targets at Cawdor as I have a suspicion that they might TR targets and not F-Class.

Sorry, if it been covered before - just wanting to double check.

Now is a our chance to decide on such things. My thoughts are teams would be of 4 or 6 people to start with however it is really down to how many want to shoot the competition. If one club fielded 6 people and another only 3 then you could take the top scores from the larger team however that may give the larger team an unfair advantage.

One good thing is the team members can also be part of the individual league so there score would count towards the final league positions so if a club has say 10 people who want to shoot they can field a team of 4 as the team and the remaining shooters effectively shoot the league or alternatively the team is chosen from competitors before hand. A chicken and egg thing initially...

It would be good to hear peoples thoughts on this.


CoF, we have said 2+7 or 2+10 however also there would be no sighters so that is a bit of an anomaly.. I would say 7 or 10 shots at each distance would be a good start.

One way of verifying results is shooting in squads of 2-3 so one shoots and the person next to them scores Bisley style.

Time limit - yes within the calendar month so we would have a March competition followed by April etc. The important part is to make sure we have decided on the distances to shoot prior to the start of the comps.

Pictures of targets on the site is good

I'm conscious of the restrictions regarding Cawdor, mainly that to keep costs down we only book 2 out of the 3 lanes - with that in mind I would go with teams of 4, so as not to monopolise the shooting. It would be different if the shoot was set aside to shoot S-Class, but that will not always be the case.

For our comps at Cawdor the butts do the scoring, so the team could be split into two pairs (shooting and butts) and then swap over. Any extra people can form a extra team/s.

The alternative is to shoot an individual postal competition first and sort out teams later. We could also post scores for each distance as well as an aggregate. That way if people or clubs who can't shoot all the distances can still participate in the format and it get the word out.

As for the CoF I would be inclined to go for 10 rounds. How about 30 seconds per shot plus 1 minute reload - 6 minutes in total that should make things interesting!

Regarding the posting of pictures - now that I've thought about it - if we going to use them for verification then we need to adopt minimum standards for the pictures. IMO too much hassle at this stage - just post any for info.
