I'll do my best Karen....we need more silver on the clubhouse steps!!
That's still quite a bit of dosh just to feel special though I can understand where you are coming from. I just wonder how many "special" shooters are out there but can't afford to compete is all.

I wouldn't object if it wasn't for the location and usual bearing of the Canada House cannon..... grapeshot through the tent as a response to the rave!
Cheers for tent offer Phil, I might have a serious think about that. You booked a pitch yet? Was talking to Chris earlier and guiding him through the online application. Gotta say, he wasn't hugely impressed by the prices either. Neither of us is entering the non-weekend agg shoots to keep the price down, so that rules out two of the shoots on the weekend.

You're not really comparing apples with apples Blu, as you have to do your own marking at Camp Perry (also it's run in a massively inefficient way which leaves you stranded on the range the whole day.) That said, there is an increasing body of people who are in favour of the Imperial going "any ammo" and bringing competitor marking (with a buyout option) back in as the "least worst" option to bring the price down and drive up numbers.

Yep, couldn't agree more with this. While still cheaper than golf, it's getting seriously expensive.

CSR Entry £142.00 for 4 days of Shooting, all self marking and providing own ammo approx £300, Accommodation £272 in one of the Dolphin Lodges, £100 petrol. I wont include food and drink as I’d have been eating and drinking whether I competed or not. Total approx £814.
Shooting ain’t cheap even when self marking and providing your own ammo.

Agreed, but it would be a lot cheaper than it is currently having to pay £74 - £92 per day for frequently indifferent marking and £1 a bang for RUAG.

Don't disagree that it could be cheaper and competitor marking isn't necessarily any better than that of paid Butt Markers although it should be.

I don't think a marker costs that much (and that charge is per target per day) and RUAG for the Meeting is 95p. Also currently available at 90p for lots over 1000. It's bad enough as is - don't spoil the argument.

I stand corrected, a marker is £63 per standard day (but still often of indifferent quality). I quoted target fees, not marker fees by accident. This still works out at £2.63 per 10 round shoot or £3.50 per 15 round shoot, or a total of £46.38 for the Grand plus warmup matches. (Assuming 100% utilisation of markers, 8 details of 2+10 or 6 details of 2+15 per day, 3 shooters per target and 0% margin for the NRA - This is wrong, but usefully so.)
None of this changes the key point: moving to competitor marking (on Century at least) will make entry into the Imperial significantly cheaper. Giving the option to mark or buy out of marking will allow shooters to cut their cloth according to their means.
95p a bang is still damn expensive when I can produce handloads as good quality as RUAG for less than 50p a bang.

I did try to negotiate 100 at 90p but was told, politely enough, to go and find some friends. It's good stuff though.

Hi Gaz, so you do your own marking at Camp Perry, c'mon now that's hardly a hardship, is it? Don't know what you mean about being left stranded on the range all day, I've shot camp Perry three times and I've never felt or been left stranded on the range all day and personally I think it's run most efficiently in a nice relaxed family atmosphere. But hey that's just the way I see it, I'm not trying to put the Imperial shoot down, far from it, just saying that the prices may be out of reach of a lot of shooters who would otherwise compete given the cost of food petrol and board already stated.
