These are usually sold as "barrelled action [calibre]", but I have seen one force that insisted on listing as barrel, bolt and receiver (three separate slots!).
The whole licensing system is not really designed for the AR's different design, if it's not lock, stock and barrel then it's won't fit the system. Some FEOs and departments are still a bit in the dark about the whole AR thing.

Don't tell the FEO what rifle you're thinking of buying, never give more info than specifically asked for.
I know of at least one force that will try to stop you buying the AR7 if they know that's what you want.
hmmm. ....so there's the rub , I want to add the tull range of calibres , ammo , suppressors on this variation but if I put it for say seven calibres including upper conversations , I do not want a knock back qnd end up missing out on some of the classics above.
I am fortunate that I can now afford to buy and build a collection and I don't want to run into problems on my first variation.

, I can talk to you for ages about uppers
Put in for as many as you want, if you can justify the use for each one then you're good.
Don't worry if you get a knock back on one or two you can always build up the qty later when the plod are more accommodating to your needs (or possibly are comfortable with your reasons for more and your experience).
If the type/calibre is wrong, don't worry as you can get the finer detail changed free of charge at any time (as long as it doesn't increase the total number of 'slots' available).

Thanks I'll do that, my employer is also open to me using my own rifles to deal with larger vermin such as foxes , Canada geese and the odd roe dear on company land, so that may open up other "good reasons" to hold larger calibre's, I imagine that .22, .223 would cover that area, not sure if the LR9 mm or .300 blackout would be acceptable for this work ?, but being in an area open to public view and hearing the suppressors would be needed.

I have 300Whisper for fox and they really don't like it. Not tried 9mm on them, that's just for range use for me.
