Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
As far as I've seen on Youtube you can heat it up nicely or Brownells have a nice video for the Rem. 1100/870 but there crimp is slightly different, it's not an all round "band", https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-ztzICm5lg
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stock at Dauntsey :(
They're going to order it from Edgars, who don't have it in, and see if it comes from Turkey on the next slow-boat :'(
So, back to wondering if anyone with a Lathe fancies a few quid

Here
I will check my material standards list and see if there is some off the shelf tube with the correct bore. Doing the job itself is not a problem and I can either supply the tubes plain ready for finishing or Cerakoted and I do not mind making up half a dozen of the tubes. All I need is a sample tube for the thread, ideally with a cap to confirm the thread fit.
There is a downside, I probably cannot even start looking at the work for another 6 weeks as I am flat out with new rifle builds and shiny work right now. Do you have a sample tube I can take a look at?

Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
I have photos of mine, or could send you my tube if necessary
Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
A photo to start with would be good, do you have my email addy?
Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
I do.
I'll post it on here though for everyone to marvel at

Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
The threads are different at both ends?
Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
Yep, the older models were set-up that way, the newer ones have the same thread both ends.
I wonder if it's possible to cross-thread the newer one with the one we need....

Re: Anyone any good with a lathe?
I know a man with a vast array of sockets who is going to find one with the correct O/D so I can try knocking out the crimp
How easy was it to get your tube out?, I assume a fair amount of heat was applied?
