There is some debate as to whether the Mig actually came down, it was last seen heading back north at a slower rate than the rest.The Royal Navy wanted a propaganda boost they they chalked it up as a confirmed kill.

It wasn't until the F-86 Sabre was used that the Mig-15 was countered, and that was largely due to the US pilots having combat dogfighting experience whereas the Korean and Chinese pilots didn't.It was a different story when they came up against one of the many Soviet Mig pilots that also flew in Korea, who also had fairly recent dogfight experience from WW11.
