One of my mates, who's a cheapskate modded a SERPA holster by basically cutting a channel down the front of it so the barrel can pass through

Thanks for the info - If even your pal has a picture of how it looks I'd be very grateful... :good:

Drop leg holsters are not permitted in IPSC competitions, the grip of the pistol must be at belt level. Nothing wrong with using one for just plinking at the range though.

Their site says they will...

One of your options is illegal and could see the sender get some serious prison time.

Adam would be the preferred option anyway. He's done the legwork and then makes its easy. By the time you figure in shipping and customs and handling charges, it's not going to workout that much cheaper.
Only of the item is covered by ITAR. A one off gift not restricted is not exporting.

I know they used to, I purchased my guide, heavier recoil springs and bushing from him some years ago. The +4 followers from another company at the same time. All before the "Administration" got all the little companies running scared. Maybe he does now if he's sorted out an export licence but, as you say, Adam deserves support and he gets it from me.

I am about to take delivery of my new two tone stainless steel GSG1911. I saw on the forum that some of the current users have removed the barrel shroud and fitted an end cap to protect the threads for the false moderator - Can anyone let me know where I can get one from ? or who made them ?

I got mine made by Dave Folwell at Bowtec but I don't think he's taking any new 'little' jobs like that on now as he's winding down to retirement. Absolutely devastated to hear it from him as he's a top bloke, has done all my fiddling gunsmithing jobs for a reasonable price and best of all he's on my door step

As long as you've got the die (my mate bought one from Ebay as its a daft thread pitch that Dave didn't have) any machining shop should be able to do it though

Mark, I have also asked "Blackrifle" if they could make a mini muzzle brake to fit the end as they make the carbon shroud. I see most shooters not using the shroud (I can understand as the GSG one is ugley) so a mini muzzle brake in stainless would be great and look cool.

Open question how many GSG users shoot with the shroud on ? / Off ?

Plus would you be interested in a mini muzzle brake / thread protector ?

Richard

He's not doing any more 'bitty' jobs. He's just clearing the back log of big jobs (oo er missus) he's got left. I did mention the thread protectors to Blackrifle (I think that's MajorDisorder on here?) but I'm not sure if he was keen.

Not sure you'd be able to use that holster if the only locking mechanism is the push button clasp. EDIT But then thinking about it I have seen LBR holsters that just hold them in with friction alone so that might not be the case. Probably best ask whoever is running the show before parting with money though.
