I believe you need to be a member of a club for a minimum of three months. If this time starts from initial probationary membership (11th Jan for us), not from when you receive the safe shooter certificate then given a six month delay I guess we could send them off now.
You need to ask the NRA, or the person you deal with when you go there about that.

Don't ask for mirrored FACs, pain when one goes for a variation.

Ask for permission to keep eachother's firearms and ammo.

The wording is something like...

"Name" has permission to be in lawful possession of "name's" firearms.

Might have gotten that wrong lol

Anyway, ask for that, not mirrored.

If they say no...ask why not as other police forces are granting it. Beds/Lincs/Hampshire to name a few.

That's interesting. I didn't see any mention of that in the Home Office guide on licensing law. Will have to take another look.

Its not in the Guide, but it is completely legal, and as said, much easier than having the same guns on 2 FACs.

according to the Shooting Show, Thames Valley have called in BASC to help reduce the waiting time to 60 days, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

That's positive news. I wonder how long it will take to work through the backlog (rhetorical question). We'll likely be applying in May. 60 days is still long but doesn't seem ridiculous.

60 days is ridiculous.

You are paying for a service but not receiving it. As the service is there for the public good, not for your benefit, you shouldn't even need to pay for it.

The DVLA can keep track of 33 million drivers and 17 million private cars, issue a licence in under 10 working days and also cope with sending out taxation reminders, speeding fines and so forth at the same time.

The technical capability exists, the reason ("public good') exists, so why is the service so poor ?

60 days is around 300 less than they are currently taking ! so as an improvement its not too shabby, IF they can manage to attain it fingerscrossed

I understand the point you're making but don't think the comparison really holds true. DVLA isn't staffed or run by the police and neither is the granting of driving licences. Registration of cars doesn't require a home visit by the police nor the need to check two independent references or a GP comment (for most people).

In an ideal world I'd agree that 60 is too long but pragmatically, as kennyc says, 60 days from the current 180-360 is a vast improvement.

What can BASC do to help them I wonder?
