Reloading - well, I was certain that I wouldn't, but after reading stacks of info about it, I think I'm going to end up doing it. It seems as though there's not much point spending a load on decent kit, only to shove ammo into it that isn't consistent. So, requires more research/advice me thinks. That said, I think I'll stick with factory ammo for a little while at least, no matter what.
It's only a matter of time before you start reloading - and it's easilly justified to the missus, as it's saving you money in the long run
When you start, it's good to get an experienced person to show you the basics (plus many books on the subject) - but I've had most of my questions about the details, and problems found, answered on this forum

One thing I have found with my reloading is the more I do it, the more I question what I am doing, what I am looking for and what is standing in my way.
It never ceases to impress me just how accurate military surplus ammunition is out to 600 in a reasonable rifle, I shot the McQueen on Thursday with 147 grain Saffle milsurp 7,62x51. I would think it was shooting around MOA at that distance which given the weather conditions suited me fine. At under fifteen quid/hundred I will do my best to fill the car up with is next month as it is perfect for fun shooting out to 600 and my son routinely shoots to 1000 with DK milsurp and gets on well with it.
Unless you are very talented it is going to take a season or maybe even two to get used to full bore shooting and possibly many years to hone your wind skills. To this day I am impressed if I suddenly decide I need to aim off three MOA at 1000 to compensate for a wind change and I hit the V! Some people develop this skill quicker than others, and some never get it. Christel is a good wind coach in this respect and I suspect she not truly know how she does it, and she does get it wrong sometimes
Anyway, reloading. To me it is all part of shooting, just accept that it will cost a lot of money and you may not see the step changes you read about, at least not for a while anyway.

Good point on the 5 year plan too, I hadn't thought of it like that, but makes sense now you mention it.
I believe that LPSC used to run their practical shoots up at Popham. Romsey run shoots there now.
Practical shotgun involves moving through a course of fire shooting steel plates and the like as quickly as possible. I've not done target shotgun but I'm pretty sure it's static. I don't think they like moving and shooting much at Bisley.

I have my FEO visit on Friday at 10:00am!
Slightly excited and a bit nervous too. Fingers crossed I don't balls it up in some monumental way.

Good luck with the visit! Just be yourself and you will be fine, they are usually good guys who are there to help and offer advice.

Just don't say you need them for home defence and you should be fine. :-)
I don't know what I did to offend the FEO. I've been waiting for my variation visit since April.

Don't mention Zombies? But I thought I had to be myself and tell the truth?
