Watcher....it is no good applying logic to the obsolete calibre list. For instance 7.5mm Swiss for the 1889 rifle is obsolete but the 7.5 Swiss for the 1891 model is section 1, the only real difference is the bullet .304" as opposed to .308" and yet 7.92mm Mauser for the GEW88....318" bullet is section one the same as the 7.92mm Mauser for the GEW98 with a .323" bullet.
I have been offered a Danish Rolling Block in 8X58R "off ticket" but as it is not on the list then I rejected it, reluctantly.
It may be an ommission but if it ain't on the list then it is Section 1 and illegal to own without proper authority, it just ain't worth the risk.
The law is absoloute if it is not included then it is excluded, no fuzzy lines on that.....

TM,
...but maybe we can get some of these anomalies ironed out? Its the sort of thing that the NRA (or perhaps the HBSA?) should take the lead on.

I think this is the sort of thing that the consultative committe wrestles with from time to time and the HBSA does feed into the obsolete issue.

In regard to the loading door. Of the 3 Krags ( other two were made in Norway and the U.S. ). The Danish Krag is the only one where the door opens toward the front. With the other two the door opens down. I owned a Danish Krag once, but the ammo is next to impossible to get here. I currently have the models from Norway and the U.S. Ammo for the Norway one is somewhat difficult to get but ammo for the U.S. Krag is still being made here in the states.

First thing is to speak to my FEO and see how he feels about and see what it takes to get it added, I will report back when I know more.
