I went yesterday to watch and for me it was well worth the 250 mile round trip on a 250cc scooter. There were 14 Vickers mg's on the 200 yard point firing individually or in pairs and all together and it's unlikely we will ever seen anything like this here in the UK again. The crews were dressed to represent the various operational units who used the Vickers through out its long history with British and Commonwealth troops. There was also an all female crew representing wartime civilian workers who test fired the completed guns.
It was noisy and fun and well done the NRA for enabling this event to take place on the Bisley ranges.

Hello
Absolutely fabulous seeing and hearing these old girls back in action, I think its time to put in a variation.
One point, our range officers would have a fit seeing people forward of the firing point ?

Are these in private ownership, presumably stored in armouries and not at home?

I'm glad thoses that made it enjoyed it.
18 vickers on the point.
16 firing guns. 16000 rounds of .303
Check out the vmgcra, plan a visit to the collection or support us to see future events.
We have some interesting projects for the next year.

I had a deactivated Vickers for some years. I'd have loved to see this demonstration. I share Shugie's question, are they privately owned; where are they kept...and most of all, I would add, how can an enthusiast get a go?
