I think the C just denotes a .38/.357 model.

Re: Underlever choices
tbh, you can mount a scout mounted scope to any of them, but I've noticed a lot of shooters really dislike them, so I was discounting them for standard mounted positionsGeeRam wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 7:03 pmYou can fit a rail/scope to a Chiappa Alaskan Take-down, in the forward scout scope position.bradaz11 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 6:45 amthen you are limiting yourself to;lovemunkey187 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 5:27 am Thank you all for the replies.
I would like the option of being able to put an optic of some kind on whatever I end up getting.

As much as I love my Uberti 1873, if I get to the point where my eyes are so bad that I can't really shoot the Uberti, I'll change it for one of these Chiappa Alaskan Take-Down 92's, as two club members have had them and they are nice enough to use, probably a bit better than a Rossi out of the box, and nicer to use than any of the half a dozen Marlins, I've had a go with.

Re: Underlever choices
The 'blackest' lever-action that can be had is the Southern Gun Company 9mm lever action. It is a step to far for many though, and people who are used to shooting traditional layout guns often can't get on with them

Yeah, the Henry Big Boy X, is a tidy looking rifle. But my reservations about tube loading is based on pretty much all of the other Henry models(or at least the ones I've used/interacted with), not having the loading gate.Chapuis wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:15 amMention has been made that the Henry is tube loading only. Are we not forgetting that some models can be side gate loaded in addition to be loaded direct into the tube magazine. https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/big-boy-x-model/

When I've looked in the past, they've either been American based or Militaria/de-act type stuff.

Re: Underlever choices
New Marlins may well suffer from problems due to poor finishing or sub standard materials but mine has been ultra reliable. My 1894 is nudging 30 yers old and I've had for nearly 10 years. It jammed up when I got it but a new carrier solved that problem. Its rarely cleaned, I shoot dirty brass and haven't cleaned the barrel ever. Looking at my scores, I've shot better this year than anytime in the last 10 years.
There is a reason they have a great following in GR, because they work and are the best tool for the job. Take your pick, looks or functionality?

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Just Google "gun auction UK" and you'll see the likes of Southams, Holts, Wilsons, Ryedales etc etc
