I have seen several such attempts here in the course of years with wartime ammo; each time with various negative effects.
Doing this is inconsciece, and persisting despite negative advices derserves an other qualification.
Notwithstanding the fact it would need strong abrsive media to remove underplating rust, oversensibilisation of ptimer compound would be the major cosnideration.
Moreover, various metal platings are not there only for corrosion protection, but to improve friction. Removing the undercoat rust also affect the thin 5microns plating.
Now,if the storage marks are only cosmetic on the platng, there should be a solvent to clean it,otherwise, the target will not see the difference if the bullet shines or not!!!
