I do understand why the second S1 shotgun was knocked down, it is probably difficult to justify it at this stage. I know someone who was refused a 30-06 recently with his first FAC but still got a handy selection approved.

Did they knock you down by much on ammunition?

Lol I think you got threads confused, I didnt request any S1 shotguns though I may in future. As for Ammunition they didnt knock me down at all. I asked for buy 300 / hold 350 of each centre fire calibre and buy 1000 / hold 1200 of .22lr

Ooppsss

Well good news anyway and the holdings seem fine, the 1000/1200 seems fairly typical in most areas however I can think of a local .22LR club shooter who is limited to 500/600 which always struck me as odd given what he gets through on a monthly basis.

I think you were referring to me getting a knock back on 1 S1 shotgun from asking for 2! :)

To be honest, I wasn't expecting for the nod for all 7 slots so to be given the nod for 6 is fine with me (2x.22 rifle, 1x.22 LBP, 1x S1 Shotgun, 1x9mm rifle and 1 .38/.357 muzzle loading pistol). He was happy for me to have up to 10 firearms with current security arrangements, and just said I would need an alarm if I want more than 10. So I guess I should put an alarm on the shopping list for next year ;)

In answer to your question, not really too much. I wanted 250/300 slug but got put down to 100/150, I asked for 1000/1500 .22, but this got put down to 900/1000 and 9mm was actually increased a little (can't remember what from/to now). Think it was put up to 250/300.

Hopefully it will all come through on ticket as discussed with him today. It's certainly enough to be getting on with for a while anyway :)

Yesterday I got a call from the land owner where I plan on shooting saying the police are going to check it "shortly", whatever that means.
I can see it taking a while as my FAC is being issued by Wiltshire and the land is in Hampshire, so the Hampshire FEO has to check it.
6 acres for shooting vermin; crows, pigeons & foxes, he keeps sheep. Plus a .22 zeroing range.

So no news yet. I'll be sure to update when I hear!

That's interesting......in 1973, I applied for a .22 rifle to shoot vermin over a 600 acre Essex farm, and despite having shotgun permission, I was turned down for the .22 because a public footpath crossed a corner of the land.
