Well I decided to take the plunge and order a Sinclair press from Spud but some investigation on the US reloading sites discovered that the gears are prone to failure. Sinclair will replace them under guarantee but it's a small comfort if returning from the UK.
Then I thought I'd make one but just don't have the time. So I was stumped until one of my technicians suggested I email my many suppliers a pic and ask them to supply something similar. 5 mins later and one replied confirming that he could and at only 40 quid!
I'll post a pic as soon as it arrives and then nag Spud for the relevant dies.

no probs nag away but if youre getting the arbor i am thinking off it wont go high enough to use the sesating die with a micrometer on top if you wanted to use micrometer that is
Can't comment as yet, Spud as I haven't seen it. I'll post a pic for discussion as and when it arrives.
It'll get sent back if it doesn't meet my requirements.
As an aside, i watched a vid on youtube in which a US user used a mallet with his Wilson dies. No doubt it works fine but just doesn't seem right somehow.
I agree but i'll readily admit that my reloading skills and knowledge are basic at best. The army were excellent at teaching me to use the rounds but never considered more than they came from the armoury.
The Arbor press looks like a straightforward piece of kit and I was wondering if ShootingShed could produce these? Seems to be within the realm of Dave's engineering expertise. Dave?
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Mike, Arbor presses are a simple rack and pinion and as such easily abused. We have a dedicated press coming out in the new year that will accept both standard dies and Wilson type dies, the press is designed for .308 bolt face and less cartridges and is designed for competition shooters. It can be used either on the bench or dropped out and used at the firing point for bench rest shooters.
The design came about as a result of discussions with the very best F Open, F/TR and BR shooters in the country who asked for specific features and even told me how much to charge for it!
