I agree, putting the kettle on is rule no. 1! There is however a suspicious white powder on the coffee table at the moment, which I believe to be from my 7 year old's packet of sherbert, but I better clean it up before the FLO gets here!

I have to say I feel a little deflated... It would appear I'll be knocked back on some of the slots of my application, as I'm a first time ticket holder. I will probably be granted 2 x .22's, and then 2 full bores and that's it. That means I have to choose between a .223/5.56 or .303 or .308/7.62... which is a choice I don't want to have to make. I don't mind losing the .44 and the .45 ACP, but I'll be pretty disappointed if I have to give up one of the full bores.

Why is it less risky to give someone who hasn't proven themselves yet, 2 full bore rifles rather than 3? I don't understand how this reduces the risk... Either you are or you're not trustworthy, surely the number of rifles in your custody is largely irrelevant.

Sorry, What force area do you come under? - are you a full club member of a club that has facilities to shoot all the calibres you have asked for? - is it an NRA affiliated club? - I would speak to Iain @ the NRA (or via here) - we come under Staffordshire and it is quite usual for new full members of our club to get 6/7 slots on their first licence.

Thanks Mike. I live in Northamptonshire and yes I'm a fully paid member of ORPC and apart from the .45 ACP, I've shot all the calibres I've applied for at our club. I believe it is NRA affiliated, but I'm not 100% sure. I thought the same, everything I've read hints that people are receiving their FAC's with everything on it, albeit you're likely to be knocked back on your ammo, which isn't a big problem, more of an inconvenience.

Just out of interest, how would speaking with Iain improve the situation?

I just checked the OPRC website and it says on the front page "We are Home-Office approved and are affiliated to the NRA, NRSA and the UKPSA."

Iain is the NRA firearms licensing person and a mine of information and advice and a word with him now will stop you needing his help if they decline a calibre.

Worth a call.
