I think I've been persuaded to buy a more traditional rifle for rifle number 1, but thinking past that for the moment and on to rifle number 2, why did you choose Lantac and not some of the .223 Spikes Tactical offerings from North West Custom Parts? They seem cheaper and for everything I've read they're a good AR platform. Just curious what your thoughts were.

Cheers,

Craig.

The Lantac below starts at £1560 quid which would leave almost £2000 for a fantastic and very accurate 7.62. Won't say I'm not biased as this is what I'm doing and my Lantac arrives in about 6-8 weeks :shakeshout:

For me the service and overall quality of the Lantac .223 blows everything else that I looked at out of the water. That being said, many people swear by the Bradley Arms AR15's but I just loved the Lantac.

There's another thread currently running from a chap that's just received his custom .223 from Lantac and he loves it:

Really don't want to get into any sort of slagging match about the other companies that make / produce .223's as it is just down to personal preferrence really. I would definately suggest trying as many different AR's as you can get hold of. Before making my decision I shot many SGC's (Southern Gun Company), a couple of Bradley Arms and a Lantac; after that I didn't need to try any others.

I've just spoken with Bradley Arms (BA) and Lantac (LT) and I have to say the build quality of the BA AR rifles looks really nice, but I was put off by the side charging handle. I appreciate it's more practical, but it's at the expense of the aesthetics which for me isn't a worth while trade, I should say however both were very friendly and knowledgeable. SGC don't quite have the look I'm chasing, so it's either Lantac or Spikes Tactical by the looks of things. Spikes Tactical are a bit cheaper, so I'll probably look at these first.

Thanks for the prompt reply Dave!

Rifle, not weapon.

It's an expression, it wasn't meant literally. I would say the same about a TVR...

WOW! Would love a rifle like that but my budget just doesn't stretch that far. Fired a few rounds from an incredible .338 the other day and strongly considered selling one of my kidneys to fund the purchase; of course I realised I'd have to cut down on my tequila intake so decided against it tongueout

Tim (ENS) Has a Dolphin built AICX as his back up rifle for F/TR and it is certainly quite a beast. He and I spent many happy hours pulling it to bits and chopping every last ounce of fat off it, I forget exactly how much of a diet it was but it certainly ran to over half a kilo.

I have to say I was impressed, the build quality was lovely. The only problem is, I couldn't blame the gun any more. troutslapping

You could always buy back your kidney once you've had your fun with the rifle.
