Thanks for all the info, the gun is not on an FAC yet but I am in the process of applying. If it is going to be cost prohibitive I will bite the bullet and trade it in for a section 1 SX3 but I'd prefer to keep the one I have... Fond memories, just like my first car :-)

It would be worth ringing Edgar bros, see if they can get you the mag tube. A smith might be able to get the crimp out, usually seems to cost £60 plus though.

Never seen that press release.
Several about being binned by Remington/Marlin/Free-dum Grupp, etc. YES, taking over Winchester, NO - though to be fair, Browning UK are of a similar mindset so they'd get all along swimmingly
