No you did dream it.......whilst there may be a European Distribution Centre in Serbia the factory is still in Izhevsk, Russia........why on earth would they move production to Serbia?, Izhevsk is home to the Russian arms industry and has a history of small arms production going back to 1807 when it was founded by order of the Emperor Alexander 1.
Infact a look on KalashnikovConcerns website http://www.Kalashnikovconcern.ru gives no mention of any European Distribution Centre in Serbia at all and, other than on rusmilitarys website, neither does an Internet search. All their export operations are done from the company headquaters in Izhevsk.
So in essence then - Rusmilitary isn't being entirely honest about when / where they get their rifles from? If so that's a shame as I was looking to order an SVD from them......

What's this? The .22 FALS are Imbel FALS IIRC. This is an L1A1, I've never heard of a .22 L1A1 before, unless we're talking BSA prototypes or adapter kits and barrel sleeves. Does anyone know who's making these?

Some info here:

Just to make matters worse, there's a good review here if you haven't already read it.

Oleg gets them from Izhmash (we'll still call it that as its easier) as he is the official Izhmash importer in the UK, he is the only person Izhmash deal with in the UK and all the firearms I have had off him have come from Izhmash.I am not saying he is being dishonest at all, all I am saying is there is nothing on the Izhmash website that indictates there is an Izhmash distribution centre in Serbia.Maybe there is and they aren't advertising the fact, as the arms trade can be a funny old business. One thing that would be a bit odd is why they would choose Serbia as the Serbs p#ssed the Russians off in 2008 by selling weapons to Georgia.

I have a slot for one but would rather hold out for the 'more fun' .22LR! Prepared to pay good money for it too.

I'm confused! Your link relates to .22 training kits from way back when. I was offered one about a year ago but the seller wanted too many magic beans for me. They are rare as rocking horse whatnot.

I would like to get another Saiga 22 because a) I'm greedy like that and b) I'd like to turn the AK103 type into an AKS74 replica seeing as I have converted an AK74 magazine with a .22 insert to work with my AKM version.

Supposedly Tenbury Guns can order from Kalashnikov Concern and Jack was checking on prices and availability for me. No news yet so I shall have to chase up. Supposedly they are going to use the Saiga 22 as a 'youth-training' rifle in Russia so hopefully they will be available for some time yet.
