yes I did!! It was an interesting first shoot!! Unfortunately I had my calculations all wrong and didn't have enough scope elevation, so was holding over for 300 (ended with 44.2) and had to retire for 400.

It was great fun though and I look forward to the next shoot. I met some friendly people though, got some great advice and I'll definitely be better prepared for next time!

Ah right, there was someone else who didn't shoot 400 for the same reason as you.

I entered this shoot for a laugh & to justify driving there to deliver a pile of ammo to the clubs can & joined LRRFC - My 300 was shocking, my Anschutz TR + a different jacket meant nothing felt right so i used that shoot to set up, changing almost everything! handstop position, sling length, the butt plate profile & angle in/length & height & ditching the butt hook raising the cheek till it felt like my full bore. The last 2-3 shots were 4/5, the elevation settled down & i ended up with a 58.1 x75.15 aaarggh

400 started as calculating how to reach it! I needed 85moa of elevation to reach the black but the central rear-sight i have adapted to fit my 22 topped out at 72! so using the plot diagram i estimated the aim up point & tried that.....first shot just in the black, 2nd sighter - aiming to half fill the ring with the white of the top of the frame & centering on the white block that holds the target frame in was a 4 so i wound down 2 moa & estimated the wind at 4.5moa & slam a V :-), (covert that to a scoring shot!) & with the light fading, my eyes struggling to pick out the white on sand & the frame block i carried on 'using the force' & tracking the wind in real time on the sights vs plotting it out, to shoot a 70.4 to win the TR event & come 3rd in the TR agg even with my shockingly bad 300yds.

I am totally in awe that a 22 can group like that at that distance with nominal Centre X ammo! a ~ 2.5 moa group.

Shed time is coming up to make an adjustable foresight with a tucker tube so i dont have to move the rear sight at all to 500yds. :-) there are now 4 long range 22 events I know of so think my days of shooting NSRA 22 TR are over............. bring on 600yds!

A good fun shoot many using classic BSA rifles inc a 1215, grunig, an FWB & my Anschutz were the modern class & an assortment of odd older style target rifles, £23 inc joining & a total ammo cost of ~£8 makes for a lot of shooting & wind practice. Its like shooting 1000yds + anything less than 1-2 moa wind changes is no help.

I've shot 300 and 500 yards a number of times with far more success than I had yesterday! At 400 yards once I'd found the target i was shooting 3's and 4's and the suddenly 3 misses for no apparent reason and the wind didn't seem to change either. Not even hitting the board is a disaster as you have no idea where it actually went. I suspect the guys in the butts are more use to full bore rifles so didn't always give the best information back to the shooters. Well thats my excuse anyhow :-)

....... there was a 12moa wind change for a while in the middle then it settled, the wind angle changed at the same time from 1 o'clock to 3 that & a 3moa group are enough to go out. also 2 moa spindrift the shots will go high as the wind decreases & if you cant the gun? then you can add another 2-5 moa in elevation right. so as the wind drops back you can be 7moa high & 12 right = frame 1-2 o'clock.

most of the time it was a gentle 1 o'clock so 4-5 moa & if it picked up 8 moa. & agree not enough to clear the target.

That's the equivalent of shooting something at point blank range with a FAC rated air rifle.
