Re: Pens
The good bit. Sorting the bullets out in a collet chuck worked and I was able to set the depth so it was repeatable.
Bad bit. It,s not going to work the case is too short to accommodate the refills. I might be able to do something if I can find out what the thread is on the transmission but up to now I have drawn a blank.
Anyway, some pictures of where I am currently at.
As you can see from the picture even if I cobbled two cases together the ink refill is still going to be too long. The one in front is a .308 you can see the difference in length.
So it's back to the drawing board I am afraid.

Re: Pens
My pen that lives on me uses lamy M22 fine refills, aa battery for scale.
Maybe a different refill is the way to go. Afterall, you have a lathe, adapt and overcome. Why be restricted?

Re: Pens
if you do buy a couple, and they aren't what you're after, I'll have them off you as long as they are the black and fine type like the above is.

Ok its a deal.bradaz11 wrote:if you do buy a couple, and they aren't what you're after, I'll have them off you as long as they are the black and fine type like the above is.
I worked out the thread size its a m8x0.75 I have ordered a set in.
Re: Pens
Wow, that is a thread we use virtually daily.
Re: Pens
What do you use it for is it a common thread. If I have measured it correctly it's likely I will be using it a lot. If I have not measured it correctly it's back to the drawing board and I will have wasted the price of a set of taps and a die.
Re: Pens
No, it is not that common.
amongst other things I use 8x0.75 for my OAL gauge for the tube and ends, this also means the cases are tapped to the same thread. I also use this thread for a revolver modification. Would you like me to run a tap up something and post it to you to use as a gauge?
I only use Volkel taps which work very well and tap to size.

Re: Pens
I have a couple of your overall length gauges I have just tried to screw the transmission holder onto the gauge. I got it wrong its not that thread it's close but not the same. Oh well back to the drawing board.
