I really appreciate the offer and will keep you posted on my progress with the NRA. If things go to plan I think the "Introductionary Module" is the 12 of March, so time to buy some patience! 1000 yards sure is a whole lot further than I have ever hit anything :) might have to start a bit shorter...

Nah! if you can hit a 2" disk at 100 yards off a rest 1000 yards is not a problem, it is just a mind game. I was always amazed at the shooters at my old club who could clover leaf at 100 but packed up and went home when we moved to 600, unless you are shooting something odd and slow or do not have the elevation on your 'scope 1000 yards should not be a problem and it is not down to magnification, I was shooting 1000 and 1200 yards with a 3.bowl 'scope. (The 1200 was a struggle but 1000 was not a problem

Well, if there's no wind I suppose, but I can imagine the problems you must have with a gusting wind out to 1000 yards!

Really looking forward to getting started now that I have decided to go ahead with it :)

No wind? Wait until you see the Stickledown range, the wind is a nightmare but a worthy advisory. It will blow a 155 grain bullet anywhere from 2m upwards off target at 1000 yards. You just learn to compensate and watch the wind flags.

Haha yeah that's gotta be an interesting challenge to master. Look forward to it. At least it never rains in England :roll:

Wind is the same whether you shoot 100, 600 or 1000. Watch it and you will soon learn.
