Oops, missed out target shotgun.

Looks like the practical disciplines are in the lead (PSG, and CSR) which isn't too much of a surprise since they're the most fun!
"anything pistol" is a little vague, I imagine "anything full auto" would have got a high number of votes too

If you have declared a discipline you want to shoot what's stopping you from doing it? I can think of only two reasons, it's prohibitively expensive, or it's prohibited.

Availability of suitable ranges is another reason.

Have to agree with this view, I already shoot what I like best & to the full extent of my budget.channel12 wrote:If you have declared a discipline you want to shoot what's stopping you from doing it? I can think of only two reasons, it's prohibitively expensive, or it's prohibited.
If money were no object I would try everything & then move to a country with better gun laws & more freedom.

I think my first reason covers range availability, unless you mean conveniently local ranges. There are ranges available but for some people the cost of say 250 / 300 mile round trip at current fuel prices for a day on the range is a big disincentive.

Re: NEW POLL - What disciplines would you like to shoot?
To shoot running deer as far as I know I would need to travel to bisley which is nigh on a 700 mile round trip for me from Durham plus an overnight stay, 1250 mile trip when I am living in Scotland which would involve three overnight stays.
Yes it is a high financial cost but also it has time cost as well which to me is more restrictive.
I could get to have a play a couple of times a year when I used to visit bisley however to follow it as discipline and get regular practice and competitions in the time factor due to the lack of suitable ranges within striking distances is the major issue, so lack of suitable ranges within practicable reach is a real issue.

My "other" would include:
-tactical/practical rifle
-multi-gun
-running deer/boar
-full bore equivalent of Bianchi
-anything a bit dynamic and changeable that rewards the shooter, not the owner of the biggest wallet!

I would like to see more clubs doing multigun and mini rifle shooting
