Yes Karen: I have been shooting competitively since 1969. Although I am an NRA Life Member, I only make it to Bisley about three times a year. I attend my local range at least once a week and usually twice. I rarely shoot .22. Thing is, after all this time, I have yet to fire a factory made round. The cost of target shooting is discipline related and there are plenty to choose from which do not require factory ammo---for most of mine, there is no factory ammo. Decent .22 ammunition is 16p per bang: I can make full bore rifle ammunition for much less then this, although it is becoming more difficult to aquire free lead.
I think formal target rifle shooting with factory made rounds is wonderful, chiefly because it subsidizes me. Keep up the good work.

Meanwhile, those of us under retirement age will continue to look at the costs and think "**** that for a laugh" and do something else.FredB wrote:I think formal target rifle shooting with factory made rounds is wonderful, chiefly because it subsidizes me. Keep up the good work.

It's very droll that you think it's funny other shooters should subsidise you, but it would serve you well to stop and think exactly who "subsizes" [sic] you and adjust your attitude accordingly. TR is dying precisely because of the costs, and your attitude helps nobody; much less the newbies I, and others, work bloody hard to convince otherwise.
