Don't forget that the '1887 is OK for CAS, as well.
I haven't tried CAS; I use my Chiappa for PSG:

It's a "hoot to shoot". :)

Just purchased a Marlin 1894 CSS JM (2009) Marked Boxed and unfired for CAS. When shooting in CAS matches do I have to use the standard sights or can I fit the XS system ? and can I use a red dot ?
Thanks

if you are shooting a BWSS match a red dot would certainly be a no no. not sure about the xs system, you would be better off asking on the BWSS site forum, or if another outfit, you'd need to ask their rules.
basically they generally want period correct guns fired.
I have a purple laminate stock on my '92 which is no issue over here, as it doesn't change the form of the gun, but in the states it would be a no no.
we use nitro convert BP revolvers, not correct, but accepted as standard.
i have a ringed, but traditional style rear sight fitted on my rifle, perfectly fine, same as those that use skinner peep sights. as it's in keepping with the era. I doubt RIS would be viewed similarly
