Just picked up a Kizlyar "Militare" knife and it is perfect.Well balanced and very well made by Kizlyar Knives in Dagestan. This is a knife that will no doubt last for years.

I had the 78, which has the plain back. Bought it in '87 and had it right through my stint in the bush.
These days I have a SOG Pentagon, not the best field knife, I do like the look of the SOG Agency.

Would it cut down a tree?

I like these as well. This is Chris Reeve's take on the hollow-handled survival knife.
These were made from a single piece of D2 tool steel - thus removing the normal weak point in cheap 'hollow-handled survival knives' where the blade joins the handle. I have four of these of various sizes and vintages. This is the Project II with a 7.5 inch blade. Sadly, he no longer makes this style of knife.

My Mick Wardell D2 custom knife. Exceptionally sharp and strong.
