What, that given a level playing field of all other considerations, a heavy-barrelled single shot target rifle should shoot better than a sporter-weight repeater? Different rifles for different applications.
I don't doubt that if they wanted to, Sako could build a quite excellent free rifle to rival Walther/Bleiker/G&E/Anschutz. They probably should, it's a lucrative market.

But I note that the person who won class B went clear - 12 rounds, 100 every time. This reinforces why the short range rifle targets are not suitable for benchrest, yet the NSRA are persisting with them for postal comps this year it seems?
Those were last years results.
I'm not sure what the NSRA are doing for their postal results this season as I don't shoot NSRA, only the old man. I know the Hendon postal league we shoot in are changing to the 25 spots, but I don't know the exact details as yet, because there's a total of 250 points + 25 X on the new targets and I heard that 10 spots will be permitted to carry on, but the use of X's will not be counted on those 10-spot cards.
As you're putting together a benchrest rig, it'll be interesting to see your name on the leaderboards in the future.
As easy as it is to "have-a-go" and get 99/100's. It's a whole different game when there's stickers on the card, as you probably well know

stickers scare the bullets, it's a well known fact

Absolutely - a sticker is worth a dropped shot every time :)
I don't profess to be the greatest at any discipline - or even anywhere near the top of most. After some success last year, I did mediocre in LWR div1 this year. Long barrel pistol I was mid pack in div1 this year. Prone 25m I got my first 100 but two rifle changes and fiddling has meant I finished with a 94.5 average, not good at all. I had some medals at Opens but nothing extraordinary, although the LBP Yorkshire open is coming up in two weeks and I'm quite up for that :)
The BR I haven't entered the winter leagues as I need time to build a rifle up and get used to it. I may shoot the NSRA Eley postal that starts in Nov for BR, but failing that it will be summer league next year. I'm desperate to get my prone back on track above all else...
The conversation that started this was that BM2510s aren't particularly good for 25m indoor rimfire benchrest. I know the Eley/NSRA comp is using them - one of the lads at the club just put his entry in and put his average as '100' on those as he's used to the Yorkshire cards. Class A is I think 98+.
The other point I maintain that a single-stage 2lb trigger on a sporting profile repeater should not, all being equal, shoot as well as a minutely adjustable featherweight two stage trigger on a heavy single shot target rifle...

I did try a couple of times and found it too easy so never bothered again. To be fair it was using the 2510 BM target so obviously different targets would not be so easy. Still, I think I will stick to prone!
