I had the fireball XL5 as well. Pretty sure you are right, it was some sort of promotion you had to send off for.
Probably it and the Gannet went the same way under a hail of .177 pellets

I was a big fan of Fireball XL5 and Captain Scarlet, great TV of the time.

When I was little and I shared a bedroom with my older brother he'd shine a torch along the bedroom wall at night whilst saying "this is the voice of the Mysterons" in his best sinister voice.......it used to scare the cr@p out of me!
