That looks awesome!

When Ovenpaa and I went to Spain, deep down south, we had a dessert in the hotel we stayed in, it was rice pudding ish, it was divine. Forgot to ask what it was and I have no idea now.

If anyone knows....or has an idea....let me know please?

If its Southern Spain then I bet its this or something similar. This because of the Arabic links from when it was ruled by the Muslims in the middle ages.

I think the one I've had has flaked almonds in as well. I'll have to check with a pal over there.

Hi Christel, was it a sort of rice pudding, very sweet, set and served cold...if so in Turkey it is called sutlac (pronounced soot-latch) Can have flaked almonds but normally just a carmellised top.

Having looked at the Arabic recipe posted by Watcher and the Turkish recipe posted by Chuck, they look very similar. Yummy yummy and more yummy.

What we had in Spain must have been something like that me thinks.

I will try to make that, see how it turns out. Picture to follow.

Thank you!

The project is completed, well apart from a new carpet and I'm told that the room needs decorating!

Looks very good, have you totted up the final cost yet? I am also tempted to do something similar in our front room at some stage.
