It was good to see you guys too, all be it briefly - It was all a bit hectic in Melville with shooting back to back comps, and also having club-mates there too...we'll have to swap mobiles next time so we can meet up for a beer...

I had a very mixed weekend shooting wise - Shot GRCF on the Saturday - I think I might have shot a PB on Advancing Target (not sure til the scores come out), but then had a first try at T&P2 in center-fire...I hadn't really practiced it properly (due to concentrating on small-bore at the mo), and really stuffed it up; I was all over the place off-hand, and loaded too slowly...when the targets turned away on the last detail I still had 5 rounds in the tube  - That combined with losing half my best brass in the mud and puddles, gave me one of those 'what the hell am I doing here' moments that Mr Smith was talking about.

Then I shot T&P1 straight after - The last 2 years I shot 299s, and I don't know if I was still annoyed about the previous shoot, but I shot a personal worst of 295...

...in reflection, I've decided that I'm pushing my modest limits, so I'm not going to expand my GRCF beyond T&P1 until I've nailed the new courses of fire in GRSB.

The small-bore went much better, apart from my own silly mistakes - I was on for a PB in the Advancing target until I decided to use my spare mag for the on the final target...unfortunately it was spare for a different course of fire, and only had 6 rounds in it...what a pillock! troutslapping

I got a 290 in T&P1, which was a PB, and shot T&P2 OK, so was feeling good when it came to the 1500 at the end of the day - I only dropped 1 point in Match 1 (15x, 8 tens, and a nine)...I couldn't believe I was looking at my own target! - Matches 2, 4 and 5 also went pretty well, with nothing dropping out of the 9...but then I struggled again with the 50m matches (3 and 5) - On match 3 I put 3 shots on the wrong target (not again!...aarrrrgh! :cool2: ) which flustered me, confused my timing, and I shot the rest of it too fast dropping some into to 8 and 7 - At least on Match 5 I got the timing right, and all shots on my own target, but still had more 9s, 8s and 7s than 10s...

...I ended up with a pretty crap 1411 (still better than last time razz ), but actually drove home on a bit of a buzz - I was happy that I shot well in parts (and just enjoyed being there for the weekend), and just need more practice (will probably give it a go again at the Autumn Action Weekend, as there's no substitute for competitive practice), and to eliminate stupid mistakes...then I don't see any reason why I can't put in a 1450+ next year.

And how about you guys? - How did your shooting (and the general weekend) go?

Well after the moaning that you and many other had to suffer from me over the weekend i pretty much ended up with a smile.Don't know if it was to do with actually enjoying a course of fire (T&P2 C/F) which was my final comp or the fact i was indeed finished for the meeting, the nice weather certainly helped.
Yeah beer next time would be good.

It's good to remain philosophical about it when it doesn't go well

A bit random...but one thing that really gets me is that most non-shooters don't realise that shooting can be a serious sport - Even at my level a bad shoot isn't easy to shake off, and a good shoot can be very satisfying...

...I'm sure we'll both nail it next year tongueout

1500 is a very rewarding match, 150 shots, but only takes 1 bad one to ruin it :(

I bet you will find the same as I did, you start off and first 1 or 2 goes are 1400-1420 area, then you start to tidy things up and soon get to 1450-1460, its from there that it starts to get difficult, I once sat and managed to put all the 1500 scores on the GR database into order, its quite surprising just how few shooters actually have shot over say 1475.

its a great match that offers such a mix of shooting and great value for money, not shot one for about 3 years, but desperate to get back to it, going to be a few matches I expect before my scores back to where they were.

Enjoyed the 1500 s/b at the Phoenix so much i've signed up to it again at the Derby open,in fact their offer of shooting an unclassified 1500 event for a fiver to good to turn down so i'm shooting it in centrefire as well.

Well now that fun wasn't it... sign01

Managed on the smallbore to stick ten shots on to the target to left at the second 50 m stage...The chappie (Jon Avetoomyan) took it very well. However it totally buggered any chance on improving on my first 1500.
Centrefire was a little better as in all shots hit my target board however i did swing one out of the scoring area at 25m................ sign01 sign01 sign01 sign01 wtfwtf .
50m i find an absolute killer at the mo,will have to practise somewhat.
