If you don't get the LM308 you'll always wonder 'what if I had...'.

Buy it, bang it and sell it on if you don't like it (or it doesn't suit your needs). I doubt you'll lose much second hand.

I also doubt you'll sell it.

TBH I expected more of this when I posted that first picture... "Should I buy that Koenigsegg Agera R?" <-- "Yeh go for it, you might be dead tomorrow!"

The only real problem with buying it is you then need to spend £1K+ putting a nice scope on it... All of a sudden you've spent £5K on 1 rifle.

Out of interest what's the market for second hand rifles? [Booming|bad|bollox]?

I also doubt you'll sell it.

I've just been advised that if you replace the .223 LMT LM223SS bolt/barrel and mag with a dedicated .22 bolt/barrel and mag it will turn a .223 straight pull rifle in to a .22 semi-auto rifle, this is an absolute result. I assumed semi-auto wouldn't be possible in a .22 conversion... So I can have the .223 rifle I want with a .22 conversion kit that doesn't rely on either a .223 barrel (constant cleaning and 2 MOA(!) @ 25 yards) or replacing the M4 upper for an extra £650. So...

At £2,100 for both a .223 and .22 with excellent accuracy for a military style rifle and shared optics, I think this is a really good deal. Any thoughts?

That's a pretty reasonable price if you ask me. How long until you can collect it?

I should be in a position to make my final decision after the British shooting show, as I'm also going to pay NWCP a visit on Saturday to see the ST's and LMT's. :shakeshout:

You better be quick. LMT308 is only going to be available for a short run for civilian market and there is a 2 YEAR WAITING PERIOD or maybe not! Thank Obama for that.

Thanks for the link. That killed it for me, I don't want that much uncertainty in parts let alone when I'll receive the rifle. I'm glad I didn't buy the rifle and find out later...

It's just an initial `allowance` and it was a concession from me, to make it easier for her to say yes to the whole thing. I could have and in fact still could, turn around and say I'm buying 10 guns and that's the way it is, but I'd rather let her feel she has an equal say in the matter, even if in reality she doesn't...

Whilst I seriously like your wicked, devilishly evil and twisted plan, I have my own psychological warfare strategy where she'll end up persuading me to buy more... I need my FAC and that first rifle in the cabinet before I can move to stage 2....
