There were a few errors made last night after a very long day so please accept my apologies, the overall positions have changed slightly and as a result someone left with my trophy.

Picture my first target
great start, adjusted sights for shot 4 instead of finishing group. Then failed to read wind for 5&6 fell apart after that only fired 9 rounds out of the 10

Reviewing the results of Stage 1 only 17 competitors scored anything, if inward gauging was used an extra 9 competitors (possibly more as I don't have all the Cold-bore Starter Targets) would have got a score for Stage 1 and some competitors would have had their stage 1 score increased. I would have got an extra 80 points:



I think that it may be worthwhile easing the scoring to reduce the number of zero scores.

Group size shown is outside edge to outside edge, so it works out at 0.407 MOA centre to centre

great cold bore shot John, mine was about 6 minutes left I think ooops! the rest of the card was spent twiddling knobs to get back on zero I had some good groups (for me) later on, shame they were in the white :cool2: I may need to "gun up" for the next one, as a lightweight stalking rifle may just be the wrong choice tongueout it was a great day thank you, Gavin,Mark and everyone else for organising and running it, and congratulations for your well deserved win :goodjob:

For those of us who didn't shoot this comp (but might want to next year...) could you explain how this target was scored, as it's got me very confused (not difficult).

It's outward gauging, if your shot is not completely in the circle and touches the line you don't score.

The Cold Bore Starter is the first shot you fire in the match, no sighters; it's worth 30 points, if you hit the cold bore smiley you get 60 points. If you hit a smiley you can effectively double the score for the circle.

I hit a couple of smileys but did not double the score for the circle as I also touched the line.

The shots must be fired in the order indicated in red.

The group is measured and is factored to increase your score for the stage by up to 10%.

I recorded a score of 58.3, if the target was inward gauging I'd have scored 138.3.
