Thanks! It looks better than that in real life as well, the camera picks up things you can't see with your eye. You'll love it when it arrives! :good:

There some great new bits of gear shown here, none of which I would say no to. Have fun guys and gals.

Here's my recent purchase.

M14 with correct and original ART11 scope. The rear mounting thumbscrew is missing at the moment, it's with Fultons along with a charger clip gude for drilling and tapping.

Hopefully, I should get to zero it with the scope on tomorrow as the drilling is done.

Cheers

Another good looking rifle PaulR, what is the scope? It reminds me of the Leatherwood but looks slightly different...

It is made by Leaatherwood Ovenpaa.

The ART stands for Automatic Ranging Telescope, 11 is obviously the generation. They were made in the late 70s early 80s by Leatherwood and were a development of the ART scope used on the M14/X21 used in Vietnam. Works on a cam system.

I haven't done this yet but I believe you zero the rifle at 300 yds using the cam ring then set the Range (Magnification) to that cam setting and lock the two together. This should mean that with standard NATO Ball and this particular cam ring all you have to do for different distances to adjust the scope for estimated ranges out to a maximum of 900mtrs, is adjust the Power ring between x3 to x9 power and it will cam the scope tube accordingly.

I have probably got that procedure wrong but I have the Destruction Manual somewhere and I'll follow that.

I believe the ART 11 made onto early versions of the M21 (not the motorway). Going over to Bisley now to try it with scope on the Zero range.

By the way, the scope is rare, and this one came with the correct glass fibre carrying case. The case alone is a two man lift, waterproof and is probably air droppable without a chute!

Cheers

That is a beautiful rifle! The scope idea sounds very clever, keeping the sight picture the same at all supported distances! I wonder if anyone still uses that system.
