No i've not touched the mag springs. I still regard them as 'new' so i wouldn't want to start chopping before they've settled down. TBH i know my mag changes could be a LOT quicker but i'm not going to start to get into tuning the mags until i get the new lower receiver

Ok problem sort of solved, mag springs were fine, I guess my arms were weak from 2 hours of filing out the mag well yesterday as I found a good slam of the mag today got the catch to engage, I guess I wasn't giving it enough umph yesterday, just need to check that the drag of the top cartridge against the bolt doesn't cause any FTF's.
However as I had all 6 mags (4 10rd & 2 5rd) apart I thought I would measure them all up and all I can say is Turkish (or whoever made them) engineering tolerances leave a lot to be desired and I do wonder if they ever tested the fit of the 10rd mags on a Bora 99 as the tooling is way out.
external dimensions
5rd mag
75.18mm wide at the top
75.51mm wide just above the mag stop indentations
24.73mm depth at front
24.75mm depth at back
mag catch hole
11.27mm wide
6.74mm high
28.42mm from top of mag to top of mag catch hole
10rd mag
75.72mm wide
76.78mm wide just above the mag stop indentations
25.1mm depth at front
24.97mm depth at back
mag catch hole
12.87mm wide
6.24-6.3mm high
28.01-28.18mm from top of mag to top of mag catch hole
I also measured the mag springs as I had them out and they ranged from 390mm to 415mm, no 2 were the same and 1 was quite distorted at the bottom.
So the 10rd mag is over 1mm larger in places, which wouldn't be too bad for the fact that the mag well is moulded to give the 5rd a snug fit with no leeway.
I also noticed that the cartridges sit a bit higher anyway due to the pressure of 10rds and stronger springs compared to the 5 round mags.
I won't fettle them anymore as I need to see how they perform next Thursday down the range and i'm hoping the new lowers will solve many of these issues, although I can see this cheap fun gun costing more than my M2 to be made competition ready

Once i get my new lower mine won't be far off the £2000 mark (and thats IF the lower comes in at £300)

Add in a stock and grip and there's not going to be much change from £500 I don't think

Another consideration for a PSG gun is how you’re going to carry additional ammunition. Fortunately with box mag guns this is much less critical, there are fewer options to befuddle you than with a tube fed gun and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to put something together. The 2 competition methods seem to be; some sort of pouch or large spring clips on the side of the magazine that slip over a belt. If its an informal/practice shoot you could get away with just having a couple wedged in you back pockets!
As I couldn’t source any of the purpose made clips (although they’re easy enough to make with the appropriate tools), I went for pouches. Normal sized magazine pouches won’t cut it due to the beastly size of the Bora’s mags (AR/AK pouches aren’t wide enough and SLR/G3 pouches aren’t deep enough – for the 10rders anyway). After doing some research I’ve found the PRC 148 MBITR Radio Pouch is the ideal size for the 10rd magazines. They offer enough support and grip on the magazines for ‘normal’ competition conditions, but if you’re doing something more energetic they also have elasticated cords with fast clips to keep the mag firmly in place. You can get these on Ebay for nothing (£3.70-£6.50 depending on how many you order at a time). Don’t be put off buying ‘airsoft’ pouches, most are massively over-engineered for what they were meant for and can easily cope with firearm/competition use.
The next ‘problem’ to solve was how to attach the pouches to me – IPSC have banned carrying ammunition at chest level, therefore a chest rig was out. I’ve opted for a heavy duty Viper modular MOLLE belt that you can attach pouches to (About £15). The combination of the pouches and belt allow for a fair few variations on how you can have your magazines to hand, but I’ve opted for 3 pouches from my left hip for reloading during a stage, and 1 on my right hip for the initial load of the gun before the stage starts. Obviously depending on the number of targets and what option start the stage is will dictate how many magazines I have and where they would be placed. Each magazine weighs approx 1kg loaded so if its an 8 target stage its unlikely I’d have more than 2 magazines on me.
Quick question for you Mark, I have a competition on Sunday and just realised I still haven't sorted out my belt yet! I have the PRC radio pouches, just need to get a belt to attach them to. Do you find the belt moves about much when fully loaded? I'd imagine it's pretty heavy with 4 x 10rd mags in it. I was thinking about getting a belt similar to this, but also a set of 'yokes' or suspenders to provide additional support to stop them moving about, and take some of the weight off my hips.
Thoughts?

It'll depend on your body shape (and other factors). If you're really slim in might bounce about a bit with 4 mags but otherwise mine stays put. You can always just tighten it up i suppose if that was an issue. Don't forget to factor in what you anticipate on wearing on the day, when you're testing it out beforehand, as obviously if you're setting it up in jeans and a t-shirt but its p!$$ing down with rain on Sunday you'll not be wearing the same thickness clothes.
N.B. If its an IPSC match i think yokes etc got prohibited at the same time as chest rigs

Ha! I wish I was really slim! It's not an IPSC match, just the club championship..
Thanks for the info :)

Took the plunge and acquired a Bora last week. :shakeshout:
Now in the process of enlarging the mag well for the 10 rounders. I only got 2 '10's' for the time being one of which is significantly tighter than the other so I'm only going to work with the less tight one for now.
One thing I noticed was a big difference in the mag well when I took the receiver off. With the receiver on the 5rd mags were a snug fit, without the receiver on there was no resistance at all. Has anyone else had this or is it just me? The 10 rounders are also much tighter with the receiver back on than without it.
The other burning question is how to do 'load one, shoot one' with the Bora's hold open????

That's the mag well sorted for now. The 10 rounders drop out reasonably well from a closed bolt and the 5 rounders rattle.
I've experimented a bit with the hold open tab on one of my 5 rounders. Took a couple of turns off the tab spring and took a little off the point of the tab. This appeared to reduce the drag of the tab in the mag well quite a bit. I found trimming the tab on the 10's stopped the hold open from working so I won't do it on them.
Took the 10's apart as one of them seemed much more difficult to load and seriously hard to insert into the gun when full and this is what I found:-
wtfwtf
The 'round' spring is the one from the difficult mag. It looks much older to me as there are signs of corrosion on it. Nothing like the nice smooth finish on the 'square' spring. The orientation of the ends is different too.
I've also done the 'sand in the stock' extra weight (thanks Ovenpaa
) which does improve the balance a good deal especially when holding the gun by the pistol grip for mag changes.
Just waiting for a belt and pouches to turn up and then I think another trip to Shield is in order.
Next on the list is a T&N tactical bolt handle as the standard one is a bit on the sharp side. Does anyone know if the Tooth and Nail +1 Mag Bumper fits the Bora mags? Would be a nice addition to the 5's I'm thinking.
