Right, serious question. Are you telling me you don't know who Dieudonné Saive is? Or what the SVT38, FN49 or FN FAL is?

Dieudonné (Saive)
Yes i know who Dieudonne Saive is not Dieudonne (Sieve). You should get your spelling right before calling someone else a Muppet.

Dieudonne Saive(Born 1889, Died 1973) was the designer of the FN FAL battle rifle.

PS My point is they used all the tried and tested parts from other designers as you have pointed out and still managed to mess it up. Almost every part had to be changed or redesigned If you see that as work by a good design team go for it.

Oh, so you do know who he is now! He didn't just design the FAL. You didn't have a clue a few short posts gone. Wiki turned out to be your friend after being so desparaging about it...?

And so, lets get back to the point I made;
Sim G wrote:Or perhaps those at H&K did nothing more than bring the weapon up to what it was before the bean counters at Whitehall had a hand in it.....

...... In short, was it the design that was at fault? They mated the tried and tested concept of the Bullpup, with Stoner's rotary bolt and Saive's short stroke piston. Stanag magazines and caliber, coupled with a match grade barrel and a decent x4 Susat that put APWT scores through the roof compared to the previous rifle...
In your infinite design wisdom, how pray, is what was posted wrong? Can you read it all the way to the bottom?

And yes, you've still come across as a muppet.....

Your earlier post above. How do you expect me to know who you are talking about when you cant even spell his name correctly.  His name Dieudonne (Saive).

Yes, quite right. I apologise for my bad spelling of the foreign name, given that I was working from memory and not cut and paste. The product of a classic education that involved books and not internet....

Obviously, when I said below, regardless of the spelling, then anyone who did have prior knowledge of the man and his designs would have easily been able to decifer to whom and what I was referring...
Sim G wrote:Sieve's short stroke piston. Designed for the FN49 which became the FN FAL.

But obviously you didn't know, until your research...... Which is good, because you're learning.

Actually, I've just read the last two pages of this thread and it's been nothing more than a bun fight between you and I......

I apologise.

This is my last word on it.

Awww, Didums. Did someone upset your bestest friend? No matter, I'm sure he'll let you play with his ball.

He's a big boy and I'm sure he can take care of himself.
