This would interest me when I get my license and rifle etc

Targets - How about one of the free ones available on the net? That way we can all print it straight from source on A4 or then blow it up to A3 on a photocopier (for longer ranges).

An A4 sized target should be fine for all at 300yds (1moa X 300yds = 3inches).

I'd be interested as soon as I get my rifle. Nice to have the option of a comp that is closer to actual shooting!

I was out yesterday at 800/1000 with a chap running a Krico hunting rifle in .308 with a 20" barrel and moderator and 14X scope with factory ammunition and he soon settled down on the 800/1000 yard targets with F Class centres so iyt can certainly be done.

We have a fairly open specification in place, ideally it should be properly noted, there are some views on maximum weights and magnifications around 12 to 14 or even 16X - I favour 12X or less. Weight wise around 12.5Lbs/5.5kGS all up with a Harris type bipod. This is a 'Sporter' class and I think people will know if their rifle conforms or not, having said that if someone is running a 16X on a Sako 75 they should not be excluded however running 7-8kgs of heavy barrelled 'varmint' rifle is not really in the spirit of the class.

What did you have in mind?

I'm currently getting a rifle together but because I'm new to this sort of shooting I dont know whether what I plan fits in with the "spirit" of sporter.

I have currently got lined up a used Remington 700 varmint, with harris and scope. The scope is above the suggested power max (8-20x) but I am happy to only use it at 12-14x. The total weight of the rifle should be about 10.5lb by my guess but I will have to wait and see.

I'm keen to keep in the spirit and compete but I dont really want to spend extra money to make it so.
